I finally came across that Peter Buck record. This thing sounds great. Vinyl is the perfect medium for this album.

I finally received The National's "Virginia EP" today; it was originally released with a DVD and includes b-sides, demos, unreleased tracks, and live stuff. It came with a free download card and I won't be using it. PM me if you want the code!

January is usually a month in which all shops have crazy reductions going on. So I have bought

Arcade Fire - Funeral
Portishead - Dummy

Ooo, and "The Wolf" is extended? Nice.

I also love how The instrumental version of Guaranteed ends Side 1.

I might be late to the game on this, but recently started playing No Code a lot of vinyl. I count this as my all time favorite album in many ways because each time I hear it, there's something new that grabs my attention and makes the album feel like an almost new experience while somehow managing to feel like the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn at the same moment. On a record, the experience of this album has somehow been revolutionized yet again. Amazing how 17 years on, and this album always finds new ways to thrill. On vinyl, there's just not other way now.

Advice needed.

I get some distortion through my system on some songs. This typically happens when vocals get pushed in the song. I feel like this is a sign of an improperly calibrated tone arm/cartridge etc. I have re-done it multiple times to no avail. I think. Can you really set it up that improperly to notice some distortion in the songs? Or is it just the mixing of the record (currently listening to backspacer :/ )

It doesnt happen all the time.

When setting the tracking force etc.... to get it to hover just above the table....Am i measuring that with the tone arm lift controller in down position or up?

I dont know.

I'm sure somebody here can give you a definite answer but the few times I've listened to my Backspacer vinyl I've been unimpressed with the sound. Everything sounds so clustered together and it's really a dense mess, but I don't remember any distortion on the vox.

Backspacer doesn't sound too hot on my turntable either. I think that somebody on RM once confirmed that the vinyl was mastered from a digital source.
