If the frisbee hits the chains, is it a guarantee "in"?
Absolutely not. It's infuriating when that happens too.
There is nothing more annoying than having a putt hit the chains dead center, have it fall straight down, hit the basket and then bounce out.

And then you curse really loudly, forgetting the course is at a state park with lots of little kids within shouting distance.

The worst is when it just brushes against the chains but not enough to slow the disc down. Then it just flies right on by. This always happens to me when I make a great second shot from a pretty far distance. Then it usually lands and rolls even further.

Yes I can throw a disc like that well, and that's a forehand not a backhand. Backhand is the traditional frisbee throw, just think about it for a second.
And no, that can't be legal.

We haven't been out in a couple of weeks. Definitely going to hit the new, heavily wooded course by our house this weekend. Gotta get time in there before it gets warm.

Thoughts on this starter kit
http://www.amazon.com/Innova-Disc-Golf- ... B000Q838XW
I've been told there is really only a need for a driver and a putter at the course we have here, so if that set isn't great then we can always get just individual putters and drivers for not much more then that kit.
If the weather is decent, we will be giving this a try next weekend

Yeah, until you get serious I would recommend a driver and either a putter or a utility/mid range like a Shark.
