Some of the songs have a nice warm roomy sound. But more often than not they sound far away, too. Many of them also like they're running in slow motion. There's a running through water quality to the record, I think.

I just don't hear it. Not even on vinyl. The album sounds burdened, to me. Which is really great for songs like Off He Goes and Sometimes and Red Mosquito. But it kills Around the Bend, I'm Open and Mankind.
Hail,Hail and Habit both manage to break out of that sound. Habit's just a terrible song.

The middle of mine changes frequently, but I recently decided that Riot Act is now #1 after years of Binaural.
