That's how I feel about Franco. I don't think there's a bigger idiot working today. I can't wait for his poetry book.
oh dude, I love Franco. Did you see As I Lay Dying? That was pretty cool. I think he's actually gonna turn into a solid director. maybe even be great.

I haven't seen that. But I'm not talking about his work, I have no problem with that. I'm talking about his personality. Just a complete buffoon.

i'm with dev on franco. whatever his "personal" flaws, he seems to be trying to do interesting work, regardless of how successful it is. and w/r/t to the flaws, he seems very self-aware, and i think a lot of it is playfully self-conscious. but, then again, i don't keep up with it that much, so i may be giving him too much credit.

I think his lack of self awareness is why I find him insufferable. That live podcast he did with Maron on SXSW pretty much sealed it for me, as well as sundry firsthand accounts of him being a complete asshole to people. Like I said, I don't have a problem with the work, I think he's a fine actor. But this all came from a conversation about Matt Damon's personality.

I think he kinda sucks as an actor. He's fine as a goofy sidekick, but can't really carry a lead role. He was pretty terrible in that Oz movie.

I am interested in his directing and writing and various tomfoolery, however.

Dude, Franco is what makes the OZ movies so great. Franco's personality is pretty cool in my mind. I guess I probably shouldn't even admit how much I loved Spring Breakers. And Franco "got" that movie so he's gotta be pretty cool.
