School here has closed for 3 months. I should learn Spanish or write a book, but I won’t. Instead, I’m going to discover Bowie. 2 albums a week. I know nothing beyond the hits. I’m really looking forward to this.

His first album is prety shocking if you've never heard his early stuff. It's really, really campy and lame - mid-60's swinging London kitsch. He was studying to be a mime at the time, and obsessed with Anthony Newly.
The second album is his attempt at being a folky and it's just plain boring at times.
Starting with his third album (The Man Who Sold The World) he went full-out rock and the rest is history.

I can't say more because they're such different animals, different artistic statements, etc. And Blackstar is probably the greatest mic drop and walk away ever. So, there's outside stuff connected to it beyond just the music within.
But, yes The Next Day is unreal good and I fucking adore it.

Hours has two of my favorite songs from Bowie, The Pretty Things Are Going to Hell, and the masterpiece Thrusday´s Child.
