Thanks for the feedback, man. It's going to be for the baby, so I'm looking at models similar to that instep. I was surprised to find Jeep making these things. They're kind of leading the pack for me at the moment.

those would be terrible for outdoor activities
You're funny. I'm not dismissive of nature. I've said nothing about nature in this thread; only about your views regarding nature in comparison to art. Nor did I ever say I'm afraid to go outside when it's raining. I'm pretty sure you don't understand how art works if you think it's purely reflective. By pretty sure, I actually mean you completely lack any concept of what art actually is. That combined with the fact that you compared art to gay sex makes you someone who insults something he doesn't understand. That's what makes your lofty position so interesting.

wish I could..I have a hard time running barefoot on sand..I have bad feet
your only flaw
Having just started running - hence my being in this thread - I only just read this. I can hear the eyelashes fluttering from here.

I have not run since I was in the Army ~15 years ago and even then I barely ran due to bad knees. I started running about a month ago and I've only just recently been able to do the entire 3 miles without stopping to walk. I can't get under 30 mins, but I figure that'll come with time.

And better shoes, but then that's why I'm here.

Does anyone here use a GPS watch? What do you use, and what are the better brands? Basically I want something accurate, with an easy way to sync the data to a PC or smartphone.

Do you run with your smartphone? or are you asking as a more mobile alternative?

An alternative. My phone's annoyingly bulky, and with winter coming up, I'm after something waterproof.

A lot of reviews rave about the Garmin Forerunner 620. Has anyone used this or a similar model?

I ended up getting the Garmin 620. Great model, really accurate and quick to get a GPS signal. The WiFi sync function is pretty cool, it synced itself to my online profile as soon as I walked in the front door. Now I can view all the wanky graphs and stats about my runs, like cadence, which I have no idea what really means.

Due to my job change, I now have 3 hours back each weekday. I'm damn well using some of this time to focus on running and cycling again. Some more family time too.

That is a ridiculously true statement. I should probably get a pair of running shoes at some point though, I've been buying solely NB All-Terrain/Cross-Trainers for years.
99% true. I was able to find a pair of all black Nike Free runners.

These have pretty sketchy durability compared to most NBs and I must admit that my form has gotten worse since switching to a shoe with some cushioning. I'm gonna switch back to the minimus line.

Vibram soles are durable as fuck. I've got them on a set of hiking boots, and they're probably the best hiking soles I've ever had.

After years of running with handheld bottles, I'm switching to a hydration pack. Used a buddy's Nathan vest recently and it put my old Camelbak to shame. Looking forward to my first trail run with it tomorrow.
