Yes: I don't think Matt's going to be skipping out on future Soundgarden tours.
I presume we'll see a change in priorities once Pearl Jam's current Lightning Bolt promotional cycle winds down after the US shows later this year.

Let's look at it this way. I assume that come Nov-Dec 2014 Soundgarden will record and then eventually tour etc through 2015 leaving a chance of PJ to record either late 2015 early 2016. Maybe for a late 2016 release if they are happy with it. Maybe even 2017.
Would you be happy with that schedule? I'd be happy with it if the band was focussed on quality output but I don't think that'll be the case. In short I believe both bands output will suffer.

For anyone who has seen Soundgarden live over the past five or so years, here is what I really want to know: How have the crowds been?
I saw them a year or two ago in Seattle. I thought they played great, but the crowd was fucking terrible. Most people didnt seem very into it, rather there was a very "skeptical" vibe throughout, in my opinion. Like they were just waiting for something to go wrong. It was weird.

We saw them in 2011 in Toronto and 2013 here in Pittsburgh.
The crowd in Toronto was absolutely intense, and off the chain at the Molson Amphitheatre; in Pittsburgh, last year, the crowd was IMO average.
To answer your question, it depends on the city and the venue in which you see them at.
Soundgarden is like extra extra bold coffee; they are not your run of the mill rock group. People don't seem to get that; especially the late-coming PJ fans not really familiar with the Grunge era in the late 80s/early 90s.

The two Toronto shows in Jan 2013 were great too crowd-wise.

I saw them in 2011 in Toronto and I would have to agree. The crowd was absolutely bat-shit crazy for them, amazing show too.

Saw them in Philly and twice in DC over the past few years. Philly crowd was decent, somewhat crazy upfront toward the back it was a lot more chill--where most of the older 90s heads were most likely. The crowds in DC were pretty lame I thought until songs like BHS or Spoonman were played. Crowd was totally dead when anything from King Animal was played, which is a shame really because almost all of the KA songs were very strong in a live setting. Fortunately the lameness of the crowd didn't seem to impact the band's mood.

Was listening to an interview with Kim last night and he mentioned that the version of the song Superunknown on the bluray will feature an added solo that was cut prior to release in 94. It will be interesting to see how many of these changes they make across the entire record. It would be kind of weird to make only one addition/subtraction.
