I wouldn't even think of seeing this kind of stuff live, I don't know, I'm not sure it would work for me.

It's part of a three-night festival along with Hecker, Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never), Lustmord, Emeralds and a bunch of others.

I'm really looking forward to it; seems like it'll be presented very differently to a typical rock show, so it might work better than expected.

Do you know if Emeralds are gonna be there with a new guitar player? McGuire just left the band

With that free leech thing going on, I got to hear some albums I missed earlier in the year. I dont need it counted or anything but I'm compelled to share the stuff anyway.

Protomartyr- If you like the Fall and or Tyvek, this shit is great.

Constant Mongrel- More solid Aussie gold.

2 Sigur Rós Valtari
Still adore it. It's indeed much more ambient than their last one, which seemed more "happy".

digital releases definitely count. soundtracks are a grey area. i'm not going to police anything but use your judgement. if the answer to the question "was most of the music on it released new this year" is yes, then go for it.

1. Thee Silver Mt. Zion - "The West Will Rise Again"
2. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
3. Kanada 70 - Vamp Ire
4. Tindersticks - The Something Rain
5. Pacha - Affaires Étrangères
6. British Theatre - Dyed in the Wool Ghost
7. Deerhoof - Breakup Song
8. Eric Chenaux - Guitar & Voice
9. Sigur Rós - Valtari
10. Animal Collective - Centipede Hz
11. Shalabi Effect - Feign to Delight Gaiety of Gods
12. Colin Stetson & Mats Gustafsson - Stones
13. Hangedup & Tony Conrad - Transit of Venus
14. Dirty Three - Towards the Low Sun
15. Elfin Saddle - Devastates

These rankings are kind of arbitrary and only reflect what I feel I've given sufficient listens to, so it excludes some things that might have been higher.

I was kinda kidding about all of this. The idea being that original songs from a TV show were much better than Alanis's new album. But, yeah, all of the songs are being released, for the first time, this year, though many were written 6 or 7 years ago.
