I was astonished by the intensely negative reaction that "Evacuation" got, and continues to get from typical boneheads.
It's like, how DARE Pearl Jam record a song with time signature changes in it!
Agree completely. I've always loved that song. The 1,2,3 punch of Binaural's opening is perfection.

My friend tends to be one of those "typical boneheads." He was living in Germany when Binaural dropped, so he got the record before I did. He called me with a track by track breakdown. And even HE likes Evacuation.

It's not about time signatures. That song just sucks.

Between this and LCD Soundsystem, you and I are of one mind in the overblown indie shit department today.

It's not dumb at all. It's absolutely one of the most overrated albums of the 90s. Maybe of all time.

That's a really great album though. I am not really aware of its cultural status. Maybe it's because it's Lauryn Hill's only album and she went crazy shortly afterwards.

Agreed on Lauryn Hill. Love The Score, can take or leave Miseducation.

I'm not saying it's a bad record. I own it. I like it a lot. But it's absolutely overrated.
