Do it! His band is fantastic, same guys throughout his whole career, and it's always a pretty great show.

jesus, that is a lot. makes it all the more remarkable the show he does put on. as others have agreed, his shows are great.

every time i've listened to weird al after the age of 15, it just hasn't spoken to me. sometimes i yearn for the days that simple things like accordian music, pizza references, and fart references brought me joy.

I would go if I could find someone to go with.

I just saw that he will be in town Saturday. Have to admit, I'm thinking of going now if I can get out of my other plans.

I have a few friends that have seen him multiple times. They say he puts on a super rad show. DO IT.

It was a fun show; right at two hours on the dot. And it is a show, with all the costume changes and tightly paced with no let down. The video bits were funny, with Weird Al appearances and references from all kinds of tv shows and cut up "interviews" and even a fake Weird Al movie trailer. His band has been with him for years & they play like a well oiled, well rehearsed machine. The rapid fire medleys, full of pace changing songs, were extremely impressive in that sense, along with an "improv" right at the end. The guy has been around for a generation and has a deeper catalogue than you realize; at least once you'll find yourself thinking "I forgot about this one". He doesn't have the best singing voice but it's range & versatility is surprising. And to see Al pull out the accordion for the first time, well, if that didn't give you little rush of excitement you need to check your pulse.
Actually the whole show is just silly fun but extremely well crafted and professionally pulled off. They made it look easy.

I saw him two years ago and thought the same thing as you. Really fun show.

Some friends of my wife's saw him a couple of years ago and they were disappointed that he appeared to be lip synching for at least part of the show...any thoughts?

While there was definitely some backing tracks and sound effects I was too far back to tell if Al was lip synching or not, maybe. Several times though he was hard to hear through the music.

just bought tix to weird al's show here next tuesday. he's doing a tour where he plays 95% originals without all the flash and extras of his normal show, called the ridiculously self-indulgent ill-advised vanity tour. emo phillips is also along, opening.

wish i could do both nights he's here, because he did say the sets would not be the same, but alas i cannot. hoping i get the show that has nature trail to hell and biggest ball of twine.

Oh my god, that's amazing. That sounds exactly like the kinda show I'd want to see. And if I got to hear Biggest Ball of Twine... I'd lose my mind and never recover.

so this was the setlist we got on tuesday night, and other than not getting 'nature trail to hell' (which showed up the next night, doh!) i was quite happy with the selection we got. 3 uhf songs, a couple from in 3-d, and a nice variety of songs from most of the rest. i forget just how close to the actual band's sounds that some of the style parodies get - in a vacuum you'd think tracks like craigslist and velvet elvis were legit doors and police songs, respectively. the ending parody medley was even done by superimposing the al song lyrics onto different songs (eat it was sung to clapton's acoustic layla, for example). i was also happy to hear albuquerque, i kinda forgot about that track when thinking of songs i wanted to hear.
