I read this as The Bikini Thread. Disappointed.

I just bought a bike. Took one circuit around the neighborhood and boy am I out of shape.

I barely played all winter. Gotta get back out more frequently again.

Looks good, chud. This is great. I'm going to claim some credit here and say that I feel like I'm on a really good roll of inspiring you to do good things. First ice cream, now this. Bicycling is one of the pure joys in my life (especially going down hills really fast). Have fun!

Well hey, I inspired you to change your avatar so I think we're even.

I love this avatar. I will owe you forever.
I was riding my bike in the park the other week. I wasn't going anywhere, I just wanted to tool around a bit, going up and down hills. I rode past a guy rolling along in a wheelchair and I thought to myself, "I sure am glad I'm not in a wheelchair, and I'm able to ride a bicycle." Then I realized that even if I was in a wheelchair, I could still coast down hills at irresponsible speeds. Right in the wheelchair! What's the worst that could happen? I break my legs? Who cares?

You could always break your hands.

Going to be starting a ~500 mile bike tour in two days. I don't know if I have everything I need and I'm freaking out at remembering something around day 2 when I'm the furthest from civilization.

I also ride every day to/from work, it's about 14 miles one way.

I've been biking pretty much every day since getting that bike.

For the first week I could barely make it 3 miles. Now, that third mile is still the toughest of my ride, but if I can get to 3.5 I get another wind and I'm good until about 6 miles. Today was my longest ride yet, 6.3 miles in about 36 minutes. Also, there's a big hill in my route and since upping my distance I've been hitting it twice per ride, instead of once.

I keep seeing your maps and hoping that somehow your track will take you out to Raccoon Island. I know it isn't possible, but one can hope.

Actually you can walk to raccoon island at low tide so...

And before anyone asks, yes, I've been stranded out there.

No bike ride today, because it's raining. But yesterday was my longest ride yet. 7 and a half miles and I added the biggest hill in the neighborhood to my route.

Took yesterday off but went 8.1 miles today. Next time out will be at least 8.5, probably 9.

I bought this one:

It's a hybrid and I'm pretty happy with it. Performs well on the road and on some of the hard packed dirt/gravel trails around my neighborhood.
