Not even fucking close.
Outside of the three live albums I think this is their most consistent. The only other one that comes close for consistency is Love Stinks. They weren't a great studio band.

Lament, P Control came on shuffle on my drive home. It was the highlight of the trip

Magic Dick or Pussy Control. The choice, LV, is yours.

But what the heck. I liked the Freeze Frame album. I was a kid when it came out and everyone I knew was super into it. Piss On the Wall! It's kind of a weird album in retrospect. They were really going whole hog with the new wave bandwagon jump. Centerfold is a fantastic pop song with a chorus you'd have to be dead to not sing along to. My favorite cut on the album is Angel in Blue. That organ riff in undeniable and Wolf (presumably) wrote a nice set of lyrics and sings them with the perfect amount of world weariness. This song holds up completely.

As for J Geils before the post Love Stinks money grab, my understanding is that they were one of the all-time great live bands. Never saw 'em myself, but that was absolutely their reputation. The live material I've heard from the 1970s attests to their prowess in concert. It also seems that whoever wrote that they were better live than in the studio may know what they're talking about.

Full House and Blow Your Face Out are both fantastic live albums.
