Or the Psycho callback of the guitars over "calling an angel."
Or the tone of the guitars in that song, in general.
Or the groove.
Or that percussive slap after the first time the funky lick plays during the breakdown.
Or the wobbly tuneless squeal that helps guide it all into the final chorus.
Or maybe just that song.

I'm trying to picture what they would do with a song like No Way, if it genesis'd today.
But I mean, like, if they were making records. And if it didn't get tossed out in favor of an acoustic track called Future Waves. And if they didn't just let Brendan finish it for them. And if it was the first two week session in which all new material had to be completed, and not the second.
Even with all those unlikely forces aligned, I just can't imagine what the end result would be.

Hands down... GTF - "he still gives his love,he just gives it away..."
I'd say it's one of the best moments in the entire catalog.

The guitar tone of the solo in Low Light. It has such an optimistic sound to it, reinforcing that feeling lost and searching for answers can still be a happy time.

Along those lines, the parts where the piano doubles the melody in the solo. Really beautiful.
I love how that song is produced.

Yes, I love this moment so much. The way Ed's voice drops down to a different level on his delivery, and it sounds like his soul vanishes into the song.

My favorite thing about that song is the bass, but it is closely followed by Stone in the chorus. His voice has such a playful flippancy to it (which is also why I adore Don't Gimme No Lip and Mankind, and don't enjoy some of his more emotional solo work as much as I should). He just turns everything he touches into an exercise in the absurd.
Ed would have turned that chorus into yearning, intentionally or not. It would have sucked nuts.
