actually I probably prefer this version to the one that ended up on the album. Turns out there's actually a pretty cool song there.

Rearranged Priorities.

Cool guitar tones with some nice chord riffage and a solid acoustic guitar backing it up.

Why Ed doesnt take to this but allows inside job/gone etc on the record Blows my mind.

Interesting stuff. Too many instrumentals and too much gibberish to be worth keeping....although the harmonized mumbling on Life Wasted is pretty fucking hilarious.

Stone's song is pretty, but...I dunno.

Nevermind. On second listen the dual-vocal gibberish is both better than the final version of Life Wasted, and funnier than I thought.

a few of these songs bridge the gap between the studio album and a song like Cold Confession. It doesn't quite feel like it came out of left field anymore

Open Door is pretty. Another song that feels like it grew out of some live noodling.

S/T definitely could have gone in an entirely different direction with some of these songs. It's interesting. The songs from the Binaural sessions all felt like they belonged on Binaural as is--you could swap out some songs without changing the feel of the record. Not the case here.

yes there is a whole other thing going on here

a band that actually sounds pretty tight/ like they enjoy playing with each other for the sake of making music in itself and not "making an album"

Agreed.

I understand why they went the direction with s/t that they did..... I just wish they actually used a lot of these "leftovers" for the next record instead of what they did with Backspacer or even LB.

the end of Open Door sounded like it was about to segue into Education

The 'writing for the live show' frame of mind makes total sense now. You can see exactly what they're talking about

and rearranged priorities is a pretty fun little number. Maybe my favorite of the new 'songs' thus far. At least on the first listen

Seems like there is enough leaked material to completely erase this dark period in PJ history from my mind now. Here's hoping for some Backspacer leaks I can replace that album with.

10 Billion Years seems like a cross between Thin Air and Off He Goes with Stone singing. I like the lyrics, too

This sounds like a matt song--has a wellwater conspiracy feel to it (the few WWC songs I've heard, anyway)
