You serious clark?
I don't think Jack was great live and in some cases he really held back the Ten and Vs. songs, but I love No Code and Yield.
You guys are right about Matt, but he does keep the energy up in all of their songs live. I've enjoyed his songwriting more on S/T and Backspacer.
WTF does 'keep the energy up' mean? He makes noise? Doesn't really make a great musician does it.
I love 'Evacuation' as well.

I also agree that Evacuation sucks.

Just listened to "Not For You" from the PJ 20 soundtrack...
As if I needed anymore convincing that Jack is the guy for this band. Wow! What a fantastic version of that song. That ending jam is incredibly good.

Totally. I remember hearing this version and it really jumped out at me. Such an understated part that still totally kicks your ass.

Even the songs I like from the last few Pearl Jam albums, I can't help but think they'd sound better with Jack on drums.

This song off Jack's second solo album really makes me miss the groove he brought to Pearl Jam.

Pearl Jam needs a new drummer.

Judging by King Animal the drummer needed a new Pearl Jam.

One of the old ones wouldn't hurt.
How about Matt Chamberlain getting another run?

Since 1991.
Still, I'd love to hear him shake things up for these guys. He's played on some of Stone's solo material since leaving the band, so I guess he keeps in touch (at least with Stone.)

So what would y'all say are some of each drummer's best work with PJ? Not necessarily your favorite songs, rather what songs do you feel like each of the various drummers really shine.
For me...
Dave Krusen - Porch, Even Flow, Why Go
Dave A. - Tremor Christ, WMA, Last Exit, RVM, Go
Jack - In My Tree, Who You Are, Brain Of J, Faithfull, Habit, Given To Fly (Lots of Mirror Ball songs too).
Matt - Sad, Hitchhiker, Insignificance, Can't Keep, 1/2 Full, Marker In The Sand, God's Dice.

I'm in the minority, in that Jack Irons was 'just OK' imo. But his playing was understated; he wasn't amazing, but he did nothing to wind me up. Matt Cameron is too much of a prominent drummer for me to not notice when he does something annoying.

If PJ had taken 15 years off I think they'd crap out a better album than King Animal. KA is a solid return and if your point is Matt C's style fits SG's style quite a bit more than PJ's, I agree. But King Animal isn't in the same universe as pre-hiatus SG or at least one PJ album with Cameron(Binaural).

Eh, not a jack fan, love some songs he drummed on, but that's about it.
