I'm 31 with a wife and kids. House parties aren't really a threat to my personal belongings.

They take up so much space, and artists don't make the same effort with liner notes, art work and packaging in general as they used to.

Still have over 3000 CDs. I've got a full iPod Classic 80 gig. And about 50 LPs and a couple handfuls of 45 singles.

All in binders. Except for one small tower that houses the 2000 PJ boots and some odds and ends.

So I've started listing CDs on ebay and I'm giving some a spin before they go. It's pretty eye opening as I've been buying CDs since the late 80s, about the time I became a teenager. I've done 2 other sales/culls so a lot of the embarrassing shit is gone but there's still some utter shit.

The oddest part is there are people out there who are willing to pay for these discs. And I've already deduced that major label discs are worth nothing but indie labels and discs that may be deleted can fetch $5-10. Win.

People give me crap all the time for still listening to CD's; I even had a clerk at a store make a relatively condescending remark a few months ago when I returned a defective portable CD player to the store, something along the lines of, "Well, if you'd stop buying outdated technology, you wouldn't have these problems..." Probably true enough (though I still contacted her supervisor and insisted she apologize to me in front of him).
.
i enjoyed this story.

"CDs are not dead technology, damnit!" shouted the old man.

Please be true. All parties would have looked back on that scenario rather fondly.

Had between 500-700 CDs but I've been thinning it out the past year or so, getting rid of stuff I don't listen to anymore or have on vinyl. I have just over 300 albums on vinyl now and only buy vinyl.

My friend is a big fan, too. And he met him one night, randomly, coming out of a bar in Westport. It was the best day of his life.

Yeah, but the thought of you owning nothing but a few Prince CDs is amusing to me. Why Prince? Yes he rules, but is he your favorite?
