I can totally understand someone not connecting to the record. But this is absolutely in my wheelhouse. I've been looking for something like this since Todd Snider's East Nashville Skyline. And this is better.

Agreed. True Affection just seems less sincere in comparison to the the songs that surround it.
yup. it sounds like he was just inspired by his "brother from a different mother" Har Mar Superstar on that one.

good tune, but seems like a b-side compared to the rest of the record.

It's basically the only thing I've been listening to for the past two weeks. I wake up with these songs in my head. The album artwork, those last five songs, the arrangements...I feel completely enveloped.
