Jack White wrote:my concern with auerbach is because i don't want the kids involved in any of that crap. you aren't thinking ahead. that's a possible twelve fucking years i'm going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that asshole with other people trying to lump us in together. he gets yet another freee reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world.

That is quite interesting but not surprising. I remember seeing him throw a towel across stage at Meg and full on cuss her out and thinking he'd possibly be a bit of pig at times. It was pretty disrespectful and demeaning. A friend worked one if their shows once and he told me that Jack was getting right up to her and yelling "I hate you, I hate you" in the middle of a song. That's one way to build tension in a performance I suppose.

To be fair Stollsteimer comes across as an even bigger jerk. I can understand why someone would want to pummel his head in.

Put my 45" of Hang you from the heavens/ Are friends electric? today and it reminded me how good DW was.
I hope they get together someday soon and make another album.

It will take a lot for me to dislike this man. There is no other popular figure in the arts that I identify with more. It's probably the self-tormenting Catholic in him.

Anyway, it's true though. There are striking similarities to both White and Auerbach's career & business paths. It's borderline creepy.

Its just kind of amusing that Jack is upset over Dan Auerbach being derivative of his work when in reality Jack whites music is quite derivative in itself.

I love both.

as usual, i'll like the art and be indifferent toward the artist.

I was thinking reading that, how funny it is that Jack would be mad about other artist stealing from him... when his whole career was jumped started from borrowing blues riffs and covering blues songs... hell, his most famous song (arguably) is built around a Offspring riff (7 Nation Army)

I LOVE some of those DW songs... might be some of my fav JW songs overall

I think it's safe to say Jack White has never even heard that Offspring song. It's more likely based on a figure appearing in Bruckner's Fifth symphony.

As with all these things there are two sides to every story and no doubt a grain of truth to both........

I still like the guy. He's got strong principals and he's a little bit nutty.

If Auerbach is copying White, he needs to steal his volume. Jack White is amazingly loud, The Keys sound so quiet live.

Never saw 'em live, only on video, but they sound a lot better in small venues....

I've heard this as well. I saw them in a big festival earlier this year and was bored senseless.
