Really? I've always found Jack's drumming in "GTF" to be critical to the calming, gentle rumble of that song's verses. I don't think any of the Matt-era versions -- fine though many of them have been in their own regard -- come close to achieving that feel.

I like Matt as a drummer, even with PJ, but he causes most of the Irons songs to suffer in character.

I would like more of a juxtaposition between the forceful roots that help the song take off and the more formless and tentative elements in the song--to see Matt play off of what everyone else is doing, rather than help it along. Then again I also don't have issues (usually) with the speed. And I fully admit this would change, at least a little bit, the character and feel of the song

I don't think it holds as true with Dave Krusen, though.

Much of the Ten material was developed in riffs by Stone and Jeff before Dave K. (or even Ed, for that matter) was in the picture.

That said, I quite like his playing on the album and I think he definitely has that looser, groovier feel compared to Matt.

For what it's worth, the opening drums of "Why Go" are always the first thing I think of when I think of Ten.

I was just being cheeky.

Matt Cameron played on Stone's early demos before Dave K. did. So, I'd say he's got some DNA in the Ten sound.
