I dont i like Costello´s voice and affections that much. Specially in his adult phase...i found them boring and predictable.
Hope to hear some more from this collaboration.

A new song from the Roots/EC album was played on the radio yesterday.
I ripped this straight from the BBC stream, so the quality isn't audiophile-level, to say the least, but...
(snip)
The song is called "Cinco Minutos con Vos" and features Marisol from La Santa Cecilia. It's really good. Great sound from the band and great vocals from Marisol and EC. It's a smooth track with a dark, foreboding tone to it. I hear references to at least three other Elvis Costello songs-- the bass and guitar from the original version of "High Fidelity" (the arrangement he played with The Roots on Fallon a few years ago), strings sampled directly from "Impatience", which is a bonus track from the album North, and lyrics that seem to retell the story from "Shipbuilding", his song about the Falklands war, except told from an Argentine perspective.
I'm loving this.

This could be very interesting. When's this album due to come out?

More on this: Steven Mandel, the producer of the record and long associate of The Roots, was tweeting about how big of an Elvis Costello fan him and Questlove are, and how the album is filled with obscure references to his previous songs that only Costello fans will catch. We follow each other on Twitter, I'm going to try to get him to do an interview for my blog. He's a cool dude.

Oh. Sometime before September 24!
I've already pre-ordered the vinyl from Amazon. Pretty stoked about this.

"Wise Up Ghost" leaked and it's wonderful. A scuzzy, layered, heavily Motown-and-Stax-influenced collection with shades of Tin Pan Alley that drips with attitude and sounds absolutely fantastic. I listened to the whole thing this morning as I drove through South Beach. The string arrangements are awesome.

"Tripwire" is crushingly sad.

The title track takes Costello's "Can You Be True?" and makes it into a dense, claustrophobic fever dream.
