I am so not surprised but also surprised.

I'd need to see it again (not very likely) to give a more nuanced critique but it always really rubbed me up the wrong way, I think I felt as though Crowe was enthusiastically glorifying the most childish and cliched aspects of rock music.

Say Anything is outstanding. Almost Famous is wonderful. Vanilla Sky is great. Singles is a lot of fun. Jerry Maguire hasn't aged as well, but it's got some great scenes/performances.

And I fucking loved PJ20, too. I'm not afraid to say it.

So, yeah, I like Cameron Crowe.

Almost Famous was a pretty terrific movie.

I would like Cameron Crowe and all his manic pixie dreamgirls and all his stiff, boring male leads to be put in a thunderdome and forced to fight to the death.

I also think PJ20 pretty much killed any remaining interest I had in the band, so... good job, Cameron?
