How can a guy who is a heisman trophy runner up at one of the preeminnent universities in the world not have a real life girlfriend?

Think of just how fucked up it is that he was lying all about this while his grandmother had just passed away. I mean, really?

I think the deadspin story was a bit harsh.

I feel a little more comfortable believing that he got duped, by this Tuiasusopo kid and a few people that were in on it, he told a bunch of small lies to his family and friends about his "girlfriend", told the same lies to ESPN and other news outlets and never thought he'd be called out on it because he thought it was real. He would have to be fairly disturbed to be in on something like this.

What's odd is that if he really loved her the way he described in interviews why did he not take any time at all off to go see her after an accident or cancer treatment? That's wierd.

I don't know, it seemed like he stretched the truth pretty far to me for someone who didn't know he was being duped.

The other funny part is that this wouldn't even have been nearly as big of a news story if it was just that he had been using performance enhancing drugs.
