Shawn is still performing every so often but it doesn't seem like he has anything regular. There's definitely an element of truth to this.

I think the person behind that is Xana La Fuente, Andy's ex Gf.

Agree with everything trag said.
I'd imagine Shawn's story isn't that dissimilar from many musicians; there's not much money in it unless you're fortunate enough to find yourself in Pearl Jam or whatever. When I used to work in banking I helped process loans for some relatively well-known Australian musicians and I can tell you, with a few rare exceptions, the financial rewards are very modest.
I do not think he should be having to take the bus or borrow a car to get to shows, etc.
I take the train to work, so...

A lot of go fund me pages can be a scam. Hopefully that is the case here. But it's true that it is an ugly business for modestly successful musicians when they get old.

I've been trying to write a response to the gofundme campaign story which was grossly exaggerated. Once I found out it was happening it had gone too far and I was not sure how to stop it graciously.
The reality,
I'm 50 years old. I don't even know where to begin to start a new job or career. It's been frightening not knowing how to proceed. I've never been good at regular jobs. My experience is convenience store clerk, Pizza Hut, flipping burgers in the mall food court and door guy.
I want to do my real job, writing songs,
performing them, placing them in movies and tv but it's been very difficult the last few years. Although due to this campaign I have new leads and insights.
Yes, I need the help but I am not sick and the financial position I've been in was of my own making.
The story in the gofundme campaign painted me as a victim which I am not.
Although lord knows I act like one sometimes.
I feel that I cannot accept the donations unless I communicate the truth of the situation.
I'm offering refunds for anyone who feels they need one based on what I have said here. PM me.
I am humbled and very grateful for all the love and support.
Love,
Shawn Smith

He's screwed if he can't find some sort of job skill.

Well, on that happy note...
I'm listening to the Brad oeuvre and I love the buildup at the end of "We". It just rises and rises and breaks and then it's over. So amazing.

Shame had such character which was ironed out so completely by the second album.

Man, I really like Interiors. I agree it didn't have the same character as Shame, but the songwriting was top notch. I felt the decline began with the third one.
I only really liked the first 4 tracks of Interiors. Must relisten.
