I could see him ripping off 2-3 more good years. I bet he is in Dallas next year. Behind that O Line it could be ridiculous.

I'm a big Ricky Williams defender. His 30 for 30 is my favorite by far. Talk about eye test you have to include him and Herschel Walker.

Not much more to say here than to concur with the Brown/Sweetness/Barry appreciation.

I dont know about Peterson with 2 or 3 more good years. Its certainly possible, but no running back in at least the last 40 years has running a rushing title over 29, and he's already 30.

agreed, but Thip hasn't even brought that up :/

I do think that's where the offensive line part ends up playing a huge role.
Barry had some good O lines. Mid 90s with Glover and Lomas Brown come to mind. Nothing like Emmitt had though.

They were underrated for sure as a group, and Lomas and Glover (lomas in particular) were never maulers like Newton, etc. They were efficient pass blockers. The best line they had was Brown-Utley-Glover-Andolsek-(eric) Sanders I think. Lets not forget the value of Johnston either as a blocker for Emmitt, and as a potential other backfield option in goalline situations, making it harder to key on just one back.

I mean I loved Touchdown Tommy Vardell as much as the next guy, but come on.
I wanna say the 1992 line was real good?

Moose might be the best FB I have ever seen. Lost art the Fullback.

I'm a huge Cory Schlesinger fan....obviously. When Ross came on I thought we'd see more of a traditional RB/FB running game with Schles on the roster but nah.

What????!!! But you listed Jim Brown as number 3. Brown kicked one woman down stairs and threw another off a balcony. He's basically beaten every woman he has ever had a serious relationship with.

This one time Barry Sanders pumped his fist. What a rebel!

Those old AstroTurf fields of the 80s and 90s are weird to see, and almost scary considering clips like that one.

Being a Bears fan, of course I'll say Payton is the GOAT.

But I used to love watching Barry play and if you want to argue he's better, I'll disagree, but that's fine,. But Emmitt is no where near the top. Barry would get tackled before the line and still have a better ypc. Barry carried that team and didn't have a HOF QB, HOF WR nor HOF FB in front of him. His OL was just consistently better. I can't remember the number of times I saw him get 5 yards before being touched.

Pro bowl linemen - I only include the overlapping years and their 1 year before and after each other to even it up.

Emmitt: 1989-DNP, 1990-0, 1991-1(TE), 1992-3(TE), 1993-5(TE&FB), 1994-5(TE&FB), 1995-5(TE), 1996-3, 1997-2, 1998-2, 1999-2
Barry S: 1989-0, 1990-1, 1991-1, 1992-1, 1993-1, 1994-1, 1995-2, 1996-1, 1997-1, 1998-0, 1999-DNP

If you include the FB and TE: Emmitt had 28 Pro Bowl Linemen. Barry had 9.
If you remove the FB and TE: Emmitt had 21 Pro Bowl Linemen, Barry had 9.

Skitch showed how even they were in terms of passing balance, so I won't rehash that. Barry was the better RB of the 2 and I don't think it's close.

I meant from a "lost time while in prime" standpoint, not a moral standpoint.

That is a thing of beauty.

For production I would have to say Brown or Payton, but I'm factoring skill and overall enjoyment watching so:

Sanders
Brown
Payton
Smith
Simpson
