Man, do I love Clockwork. Some of the best cinematography ever put on film. Superb use of music. Excellent performances.
Some weird trajectories for me too:
Thought The Shining was mediocre when I first saw, but it eventually grew to become one of top 10 favorites. ACO was in my top 10 as a teenager, and was a definitive movie of my youth, but it has fallen sharply and I now find it merely very good.
Have always loved 2001, though. Though I agree with Argo that it gets better with every viewing. Truly one of the greatest things ever filmed.
