My first 2016 record. Spacin' from Philly. If you like Purling Hiss, and maybe even Ty you'll appreciate it .

I really liked their one from a few years ago (Animal Joy I think) so looking forward to checking this out.Kaius wrote:This is pretty good.psychobain wrote:leaked a couple days ago:

Re: Albums of 2016
This is my first exposure to them, but I'm falling pretty hard for the sound of it. Poppy and melodic with strong hooks in every song, but with plenty of space for the music to breathe and the band seems to explore just enough so that they're not predictable or easily absorbed. The aural aesthetics are very pleasing. A lot of tasty details littered throughout. The songs get better with each listen.Varis wrote:I really liked their one from a few years ago (Animal Joy I think) so looking forward to checking this out.Kaius wrote:This is pretty good.psychobain wrote:leaked a couple days ago:
I'm pretty excited to work my way back through their catalogue. What's weird is this popped up on my Spotify suggested listens list the day after seeing it on here.

Re: Albums of 2016
Couple of things announced today.
First up, new Tim Hecker, called Love Streams; his first for 4AD, out on April 8: http://4ad.com/news/669
Also on that day, Colin Stetson is releasing a reimagining of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony, titled Sorrow, out on 52Hz Records, a label I'm guessing is one of Stetson's own making: http://www.importcds.com/colin-stetson- ... 6032300200

Its not really psychedelic but I figure that must just be the name of the swamp or something. Nobody here likes Dr. Dog based on my previous post but I find them consistently solid.

Re: Albums of 2016
Trag, why is it not a leak when it's an artist who isn't a million seller? If it's released online early and not sanctioned by the label or the artist (which I would guess is the case here), then leak is a totally appropriate term. If it's intentionally released early by one of those two parties, then you have a valid argument, otherwise you're just being silly.

Re: Albums of 2016
I understand the raising of an eyebrow at some podunk band who nobody has ever heard of "leaking" their new album but it's hardly as though Tim Hecker falls under that category. I find difficult to believe it was engineered by him or someone at his label, what would be the point in his circumstance?

Re: Albums of 2016
I loved Animal Joy, but damn this album may top it. I've been playing the shit out of it--don't know how this band is not more widely popular. Thought I'd hate the new wave sound throughout the album, but I think that's actually what keeps pulling me in. There's like this constant sense of urgency and dark beauty in the music and Meiburg's vocals are amazing as always.Kaius wrote:This is my first exposure to them, but I'm falling pretty hard for the sound of it. Re: Albums of 2016
I wonder how long before hard and fast release dates disappear altogether -- it was a big excitement-builder back when people would wait in line outside Best Buy on Tuesday mornings to buy new CD's, but these days it seems like a lot more buzz is created when artists just drop new albums out of nowhere.Birds in Hell wrote:I understand the raising of an eyebrow at some podunk band who nobody has ever heard of "leaking" their new album but it's hardly as though Tim Hecker falls under that category.
