I'm probably down for the Barn show in Iowa. Not sure how tough that ticket will be though.

Go to Codfish instead. I've been to the Castle Theater though and it's fine. It's actually an old movie theater. A Murder by Death show I saw there was particularly outstanding.

It's worth it and you can camp for free in the parking lot/cow pasture after the show. Everyone should see a Barnstormer at least once.

What's a barnstormer and what's so great about it?

Codfish Hollow is a barn in the middle of nowhere Iowa. They've hosted some great shows over the years. There is art for sale, plenty of room to roam around and nobody cares if you smoke weed. You can ride the hayrack pulled by a tractor down from the pasture or walk the gravel road.

I've seen Built to Spill Dinosaur Jr. Tallest Man on Earth and others.

In the winter time acts play the owners basement, which is outfitted like a really great dive bar/cool uncle's place. Basement is BYOB.

That sounds amazing. Weird that the barn isn't also BYOB. You're OK with the weed smoking?!

I don't personally endorse smoking but I like the less restrictive environment. As long as you don't flaunt it nobody seems to care. They sell beer at the barn shows from a lot of the local breweries so that's probably why they make you keep whatever you bring in the pasture. Bottled water is only a dollar.

I definitely want to go to a show there one day. That really sounds incredible. Not sure if I'm a big enough EITS fan for the distance, though.

For some reason everyone freaks out when Dawes plays there. They sell out in 5 minutes. It's usually pretty easy to get tickets as long as you grab them the first day. I would guess it's maybe capped at 500 even though the property itself is pretty big. Getting there the first time can be tricky as GPS doesn't really have a clue and it's a lot of gravel roads.

Tickets are selling fast for all the shows in the West.

AZ and SoCal shows won't last the weekend.

Balcony tickets were only $30 apiece, that's pretty freaking cheap considering the venue.
