That elongated version of "Wasted Hours" is pretty good.
Modern Man and Suburban War were two of my faves off the last album.stip wrote:so I really like Wake Up, Antichrist Blues, Keep the Car Running, Month of May, and City with No Children.
What other songs should I look up?
All of them.stip wrote:so I really like Wake Up, Antichrist Blues, Keep the Car Running, Month of May, and City with No Children.

Would this be an example of "you only get out of art what you put into it"?digster wrote:I'd probably just grab the first record and see if it grabs you.

All the others. But yeah, my favourite song from The Suburbs was Suburban War.stip wrote:so I really like Wake Up, Antichrist Blues, Keep the Car Running, Month of May, and City with No Children.

I just think the songs are inconsistent, but that's not because any of them are bad, it's more that some of them are freaking classics that have impacted my life in a huge way, so others are 'filler', good to very good imo. It's probably unfair to judge an album as less good on that basis, but Arcade Fire is a band on that level for me. Neon Bible changed my life like Ten did, and considering I was in my twenties at the time, that's a rarity. I'm also not as keen on the shouty vocal on some of the Funeral songs, as opposed to the sung vocals on future output. The distorted shout gets jarring and threatens to push certain good songs into annoying territory (Leika, I'm looking at you).Gods' Die wrote:After 4 or 5 listens I don't know how you can't be grabbed by Funeral.

If you keep listening, it will grow.stip wrote:I listened to a few songs driving down to my parents.
I forgot that I like ready to start (but less than those other songs I had previously listed). I like Hati, too.
Rebellion was pretty good. I'd like intercession (that organ song on neon bible) if not for the chorus.
Not a fan of no cars go. Suburban war didn't do much for me either.
Is that the Epcot Center?Self wrote:http://www.spin.com/articles/arcade-fire-new-album-announcement-twitter-art/?utm_source=spinfacebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spinfacebook
me too. I like individual songs but don't find myself wanting to listen to their entire albums.stip wrote:there are a few songs on each of their albums I like quite a bit, but haven't fallen in love with an album as a whole. I probably need to go back to them
