Are they not allowed to say their names?

6 in, and while I'd put it at the bottom of the 4 so far it is still really compelling. Much more J-Jones than daredevil, in terms of tone and style. Also leans into the expanded Netflix universe more than the other shows thus far

part of the problem is my usual issue with overpowered people in street level stories. Cage is a good character, and this is a very well acted series, and the social justice/black life stuff is not ham fisted (though not nearly as smart or visceral thus far as JJ). I really enjoy the show. But so far the villian is underwhelming (in terms of power/influence--the actor is great and the character is interesting) and someone Cage can easily get to and defeat. Plus no one can physically hurt him. So there's not a ton of risk, or even internal struggle. Daredevil was a regular guy who could (and did) walk out of his combats beat to shit. He was risking his life and health doing what he was doing, and it added tension. Plus Kingpin felt untouchable in a way Cottonmouth doesnt. Jessica Jones, while super strong, did not seem particularly invulnerable (it's what made her fight against Cage so powerful), and the villain was terrifying. So I'm waiting for the risk and tension.

Having said all that, I am counting the hours until the kids go to bed and I can watch episode 7.

I'm 3 episodes in and I'm loving this show. So far, it's really getting Cage right as far as his character and motivations go.

I really hope they do a soundtrack to it. The music in Cottonmouth's club is fucking awesome. He may be a punk crook thug, but at least he's got great taste in music.

I really like the music when he's kicking ass. Is it all Wu-Tang?

episodes 7 and 8 really addressed some of my major beefs. and this has the best supporting cast of any of these shows so far

bracketing the amazing fight sequences DD is the weakest of these shows so far. and DD is really good.

oh wow. im not sure i can agree, while i liked the fight scenes in cage the first hallway fight in DD is flat out amazingly done. to me it is second only to the fight in they live

Sorry, I was saying that if you remove the amazing fight sequences in Daredevil both Luke Cage and JJ are better shows (in terms of the characters, plot, pacing, development, etc).

Netflix could learn a lesson from HBO when it comes to concise storytelling.

Thinking about the last 3 seasons, DD and JJ could have benefited from being 8-10 episodes. None of the series so far justify the bloated 13 episode season length (I mean, we're not talking about The Sopranos or The Wire here). Part of the reason I bailed on DD season 2 is b/c I simply lost interest halfway through (and thinking, "I still have another 7 episodes to go?!").

I'm only one episode in on LC but really enjoyed it. But that's really not saying anything when it comes to these series.

Completely agree. It would help budgeting issues too. This issue got really bad with Jessica Jones especially. The bloat was real and evident

10 episodes feels like presicely the right amount

Has anyone read when this series takes place in regards to the JJ series? Or is it revealed in later episodes? I know it runs alongside DD S2, but I've not found anything on how it fries with JJ.

I'd love to see them challenge themselves to 8.

But if the storytelling requires 10, so be it. I don't like the idea of having a specific number they HAVE to hit. The season should be however many episodes it needs to tell the story properly. So far, they've all been bloated. None of them have needed 13 episodes.

I think Jessica Jones was the most consistently interesting and engaging, with the least amount of bloat and filler. But even that could have been perfect at 9/10 episodes.

Its definitely after JJ because Claire helped him in JJ and reminds him.

ugh, Misty talking to the psychiatrist in ep9 is the worst thing any television show has ever done. So boring and silly
