2 half baked albums since 2003 have everything to do with the lack of legit Pearl Jam talk around here. As I said before, even the Pearl Jam 20 year managed to brighten things up a little bit around here. Whenever the new album comes things will pick up. But there will still be people that will shit on it if it isn't very good. That is part of what makes this place better than the pit.

I think wherever you go there's always negativity and complaining and such, and not limited to what some perceive of the last 2 albums. After Riot Act, I remember one of the message boards (can't remember the name, but I was actively posting there for quite a while) collapsed because the dude who ran the website wrote some sort of epic letter about growing apart from Pearl Jam and he just stopped the site abruptly. If for nothing else, this message board really has been around a long long time...so that says something right there, right?

as a policy we let people say what they want, and the few lines that there are really involve how people are treating each other. The reflexive negativity (which actually has not been nearly as prominent on the new board as it was at the end of the last one--maybe because people are resurrecting threads about stuff they like) can be frustrating, especially when it drives away new posters. People shouldn't have to feel like they need to apologize for liking Pearl Jam on a Pearl Jam message board. But that's the cost of an open board where people can say what they want, and the great conversations (positive or critical) that exist probably couldn't happen without it.


Pearl Jam has not done anything substantial since PJ 20, and in the absence of new material and the mixed reception of the last few records, it is understandable that the threads wander. We have a board full of people who want to post here and have very little to talk about right now. That'll improve when we have new music, and we'll probably be modding a lot more (keeping things on target, etc. when it happens).

In the meantime, just get to know the community here. Even the trolls are mostly pretty decent people and you'll have fun with them when we get some new music.

RM doesn't even have trolls.
