So you quit right before SFTD?! Big mistake.
Ah. My mistake. I did not know there was a self-titled debut. My apologies. I have not listened to that. I own, have listened to, and enjoy Rated R and Songs for the Deaf.

Then I quit.

You're not missing anything vital.

I bought Rated R on a whim. Saw it at the store and thought... yeah, I'll give this a go. Never heard of the band before. Never heard a song by them before. Knew nothing of Josh Homme. I thought it was a joke band. I enjoy the album but it's humor jumped out at me first. I really thought the were like a talented Ugly Kid Joe. Kinda wrote off the record and put it away.

Then, however long later, No One Knows was blowing up the radio waves. I loved it. And I bought SftD and didn't even put together that it was the same band until about a week later when I went to go alphabetize my CDs. Went back and listened to Rated R and really enjoyed it. But nothing really stuck with me.

I guess, what I'm saying is, I like a handful of their songs well enough but I'm not a huge fan.

Though, I fucking LOVED that Them Crooked Vultures album. That was great.

The Foo Fighters claim they nearly broke up around 2000 but we all know Grohl would have kept the name and just hired new guys.

Sorry tcms, I actually hate that song, and most of the stuff from that era. They were going for big drums and started using more samples. I much preferred the smaller, relatively stripped-down approach of those first two records.
I'm a sucker for the big drums with the shaker or whatever it is in the background. I could listen to that on a loop all day.

God-damn-skippy it is (...Like Clockwork, since you guys won't stop posting!). I listened to it so much I broke the media files (somehow? they would start skipping like a scratched record, it was weird) so I had to download them again.

Let's go back to how Uno Dos Tre should have never been released, much less Revolution Radio.

Oh, this changes everything. I think the self-titled debut (a Loosegroove release!) and Rated R are the only ones you need to hear.
But then I would have never heard No One Knows. And boy oh boy! do I love that little ditty.

Yeah, Strat, that was actually super awesome. Does the album track sound that good?

I Sat by the Ocean has one of my favorite mis-heard lyrics:
Imagined I'd be your one and only
Instead I'm the only one
You, me, and a lie
Silence is closer
We're passing ships in the night
what it actually is:
Imagine I'd be your one and only
Instead I'm the lonely one
You, me, and a lie
Silence is closer
We're passing ships in the night
What I originally heard was "one and only" is love, but "only one" is she settled for him and that's the lie. I guess they both are about the same, and I still sing what I heard vs. what it's supposed to be.

re: QOTSA, I thought Era Vulgaris was pretty good and better than Lullabies (then again I haven't listened to either in a few years so that may have changed). Anyway, I thought Like Clockwork kinda sucked. I've listened to it twice and haven't gone back. Maybe I'll revisit all three over the next year.

I've agreed with everything you've posted in this thread. But, I'd put Misfit Love at the top of that album's list.
