Just got one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-10-Inch-Ta ... B00TR05L9Y

Haven't done much with it as I literally just got it but it seems to be pretty nice for the price.

Yeah I'm enjoying this. I needed something big because I'm going to bring it to darts to use as a scoreboard, and it was one of the few 10 inch tablets under $200.

We got a Google Daydream for a project at work. It's pretty cool. Probably the best VR experience you can have without a REAL Oculus headset.

Much better than Gear VR.

My son spilled Coke all over my old-school wired aluminium Mac keyboard on Monday. A sticky mess that left about half the keys not working.

I stuck it on the top rack of the dishwasher on Thursday.

I let it dry out until this morning and bingo! It works perfectly now.

Reminded me of an old Nvidia graphics card that I used to bake in the oven once a month to keep going. That actually work for a year and a half.

Did you seal it tight to keep out the moisture? I got data off a dead drive that way once. Got it working just long enough to copy what I needed.

Yup. Seal it with our vacuum sealer.

Luckily, the paper had an awesome recovery system. The IT guys pulled out the platter and I was able to recover.

Anyone know if you can use GPS on your smartphone without having data available? I've downloaded Iceland to use on Google maps offline, because I won't have data. But I'm not sure if I need to have data available to initiate the GPS usage.

If you've downloaded the offline maps, then GPS will still work to show your current position. I believe you can still use navigation, however it won't know traffic or current conditions so it may not be the quickest route. i.e. it would route navigation based on the shortest distance.

You could also buy a pre-paid sim card in Iceland to pop in your phone, so you have some data.

Thanks. I'm trying to not have access to data while driving around the ring road, don't want any reason to have my phone except for navigation. I actually just found an offline map app for Iceland that got great reviews and works with the phone GPS, so I've downloaded that as well.
