Concerts you've been to recently

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Anyone able to tell me any more? Would it be worth my while?
I’ve seen the Dirtbombs in 2002 when the White Stripes’ popularity exploded and you just had to see every garage rock band out of Detroit. I can’t remember much from it to be honest. So it probably wasn’t bad, but nothing memorable either. If you have nothing to do and if it’s not too expensive, go, have a couple of beers and you’ll have a good time.

Cool thanks Gus. Radio played a thin lizzy cover of their yesterday. It was rockin n had a real dirty groove. Could be interesting.

No Osheaga for me this year. The lineup does nothing for me. Mumford and Sons? Meh.

My wife and I are going to see Molly Ringwald sing in June. Front-row seats! (I, er, guess the demand wasn't through the roof.) It should be fun, I guess.

Tool and Sabbath in the next few weeks, looking forward to both (as borderline ridiculous as I imagine they'll be.) Still annoyed OM play here the same night as Sabbath, what a pisser.

I saw The Appleseed Cast last night with exactly 1 original member. it was disappointing to say the least. They peaked a long time ago.

Last Wednesday's festival: The Hives were awesome, Hot Chip was really good, The Black Keys kinda bored me, Pearl Jam was fun.
Saw Crystal Castles on Wednesday, one of the most intense shows I've ever seen. Saw Toro y Moi the next day, which was very enjoyable. Saw Regina Spektor last night, which was an all-around beautiful show. Seeing The Cure next week.

As fun as this month has been, I need to stop doing back-to-back concerts. It's exhausting.

I live in South MS. It's a populated area with 5 cities nestled next to eachother. Main attraction is the beach and the casinos. The problem is most of the acts that come through are mainstream bands that I'm either indifferent towards or hate with a passion.

I had tickets to see Vince Gill at the Beau Rivage 3 weeks ago but he cancelled due to illness. I was bummed. But a day later I went to see Slowhand play in New Orleans. The Wallflowers opened so I got to see our very own Jack Irons on the drums! That was cool. And really the Clapton set was good. No bum notes, very tight, professional band backing him, excellent musicianship all around. The crowd was excited but restrained as it was a seated show and the age demographic was well north of my own. Good night though.

Dime, go see the Dritbombs. Don't hesitate.

I like em better than the Stripes.

I saw Cohen on Sunday. Fantastic show

6 1/2 weeks from the Roots Picnic. Frankly, I want to see The Roots 2 sets, Gary Clark Jr., and am quite curious about the Naughty-By-Nature reunion with the Roots as their backing band.

Whoa Naughty by Nature! Sweet! Gary Clark Jr. brings it if you ask me. I saw him at Jazzfest last year. I bet my socks this will be a fun show for you.

No question I am excited for those sets. It's the rest of the day I can take or leave. I'll be happy with this thought for a mere $50. It's a 10 hour day so I am sure there'll be some good surprises. I am really excited to see Gary Clark Jr. so long as he promises to play at least 90% blues rock.

I wouldn't care if that tattooed toolbag juggled flaming chainsaws, that music is atrocious.

But, yeah different strokes.

This is my take on this: after basically 12 years of indie rock being essentially mainstream and every record snob frothing at the mouth from bands that either drone endlessly around moderately catchy electronic blips and bleeps, or bare their tortured soul with intimate acoustic ironic self-loathing, it's refreshing to have a few bands that produce earnest hard rock - even if it breaks absolutely no new ground. Sometimes, I just need my bands to rock. Enter these two.
