"Pinkerton" is frequently listed as a milestone album within the genre. Google "weezer pinkerton emo" and a handful of articles will pop up on it.

How do you figure? Emo predates Pinkerton by quite a bit, though perhaps you are referring to "emo" as used to describe Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance and all that stuff

yes, that's what I meant. I know Rites of Spring, SDRE, etc, but Pinkerton is often name checked as an influence for those sorts of bands you mentioned.
There should be a different word for those bands. I propose nu-mo.

Yes it is. I had a friend that was shit talking the "Buddy Holly" video back in the day until I told him that it was Weezer. I laughed and asked him if he could hear clearly. He had just glanced at the tv and saw the style of the video, I guess? People mistook them as Nirvana hacks until Pinkerton. I love their first 4 albums. I fell behind on them, but have most of their records. Their work ethic is outstanding! Maladroit was part of the soundtrack for our honeymoon.
And now I'm in shock that that record is 15 years old..

I really don't think Weezer has ever been emo in any way, shape, or form.

Good to see that I'm not alone on a majority of the post Maladroit material. I loathed "Beverly Hills" and haven't really paid much attention since. I did like the first single from the Everything... album. I've seen a lot of praise for the White Album, so I may need to check that out, for shits & giggles!

Big fan of that Red Album, actually. Also, Everything Will Be Alright in the End is pretty solid.

It's schmaltzy as fuck, but I fucking adore Heart Songs from the Red Album. That guy pokes me right in the feels. I don't even care. It's one of my favorite Weezer songs. Also, Miss Sweeney (outtake found on the Red Album deluxe edition) is another all time favorite Weezer track. They recorded some really fun stuff during that period. Pork and Beans? Please and thank you.

I actually bought that and have it archived, so I was able to dl it. P & B is awesome. Back To The Shack kicked my ass the first day it was released. I just completely forgot about the record.. It's only $1.04, I think I'll give it a whir.
