Quick trivia question (don't cheat!): how many touchdown passes were thrown by left-handers in the entire 2016 NFL season?
Spoiler: show
Answer: 1...and it was thrown by Dez Bryant on a trick play. FiveThirtyEight has an article up on the disappearance of southpaw QBs, and it caught me by surprise: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/ar ... g-extinct/

I've always thought Andrew Luck looked like a lefty, interesting that he isn't.

For some reason, the first person I thought of was Cam Newton: "Of course, Newton is a lefty!" I dunno where that thought came from. Somewhere in my mind I thought Brees was, too.

The little league team I coach, 3 years ago when they first started up at 8 years, we had 2 lefties, wanting to play CATCHER. Told them it just doesn't happen/work. (hasn't been one in the big leagues since 1988ish?) Told the kid IF he can find a left handed mitt we'll give it a try. Shows up the next day with a mitt. Found it at a rummage sale that night! what are the odds.

But yeah, its weird how lefty throwers are treated in both sports. Was Brunnel the last really good left handed starting QB?

Vick at his peak was definitely the last great one.

Congrats, Biff. The last two people to start the NFL Season thread had their team win the Super Bowl.
Also, you're a dick, Biff. I was supposed to start this thread.

I didn't mean that last part. After blowing a 28-3 lead, I hope you have some good fortune come your way.

I watched a little of last night's game, but tonight I have interest. I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate to see summer end, but the NFL is my silver lining.

I can still only deal with the last quarter and change, Ruddo. Shit was amazing.

I watched it about a month ago, and I remember when it was all first happening, how I felt when the Pats won the coin toss for overtime. I was never more sure of anything in my life as I was that Brady would lead them down the field for a TD.

My wife and I joked for like 2 hours that we should change it and watch something else, but we never did. Choosing which Pats SB was the most exciting/best to watch is like picking your favorite kid.

Thanks.
Regarding the Super Bowl it's ironic that Matt Ryan got one monkey off his back only to get an even bigger one.
But regardless it's a new season now. And like you I really can't get excited for it until September.

I still think Goff has potential. We will see.

Buffalo also now has two picks in each of the first three rounds of next year's draft.
