Ah, yes, I remember that now. I think she was referring to the fact that Tyrion is of like mind as Tywin, both clever and cunning strategists.

^^^i took it to mean that Tyrion was the most like Tywin.
I also believe that the timing works better for Cersei and Jaime belonging to the Mad King. Can't remember what the circumstances are, but I definitely remember something convincing me of that.
I also think it adds the parallel between Jaime and Tyrion in that they're both kin and king slayers, though I don't necessarily think either of them are secret Targs.
I think he's gotta be getting pretty close to finishing Winds of Winter. Maybe he just had a coupe sorta generic characters that get killed and just had to fill in higher names for the charity thing.
As far as the show spoiling future book event...doesn't really big me, but I just wanna know what happens next and I know it'll be more in depth and maybe pretty different in the books when they finally come out.
Any seasons or a movie based on the pre GoT material is a pipe dream for GRRM, but I could see them wrapping up the series with a big blockbuster. The Battle of Ice and Fire is gonna be beyond the scope of the anything HBO will be able to produce for tv. They've done a good job with both the big battles so far, but I'm picturing something much bigger for the endgame battle.

I was hoping season 5 would take alot of what is going on with the greyjoys, especially with FFC, but from the after finale interviews, it doesn't seem that way at all.

- Spoiler: show
You couldn’t have missed the online furor over the lack of Lady Stoneheart in the Thrones finale. Were you surprised by that attention?
I actually haven’t seen any of that. I don’t look that stuff up. I avoid it like the plague. I was totally unaware.
There was a lot of online conversation. I heard third-hand that you were basically told that it’s not likely to ever happen. Is that accurate?
Yeah, the character’s dead. She’s dead.
Do you have a preference at all—do you think Catelyn’s arc should end where it ended, or would you be into the resurrection idea?
You respect the writers’ decision. I knew the arc, and that was it. They can’t stick to the books 100 percent. It’s impossible—they only have 10 hours per season. They have got to keep it dramatic and exciting, and extraneous stuff along the way gets lost in order to maintain the quality of brilliant show.

that's such a fucking cop-out. Why don't they show us more scenes of Grey Worm learning the common tongue and lusting after Missandei if the screen time is so fucking precious?

Right.
Also, why even introduce Berric if you're not going to do Stoneheart?
I'm hoping this is smokescreen.

he was probably just a means to the end of getting Arya with the Hound and Gendry to Melisandre

You're probably right. And if this is true, maybe he'll just fill in for her in the Brienne story. I don't know. Just sort of a bummer for the show and all it implies for future books.

Of course, this could all be smokescreen based on semantics. Is that just wishful thinking?

If they're actually going to do LSH, why would they tell anyone about it?

So with David Nutter coming back for episodes 9 & 10 of season 5,
- Spoiler: show
- can we assume this will either be Cersei's pennace walk or LSH? I don't believe for a second they are not going bring her into the show.

Fantastic news! Another case of grand slam casting, I think.
Jonathan Pryce will play the High Sparrow.

"We're worried that the show will catch up to the books"
and
"Let's cut entire characters that drive plots in the book from the show"
are not logical thoughts when combined

You guys see that George won't be involved at all in Season 5 so that he can focus on finishing book 6?

I saw that, and I'm rather pleased. I would like George to finish the series. I don't give a damn about the show. I watched the first episode and a half, and while there were some cool bits, the acting was pretty bad, and things were too rushed for me to enjoy it.

Not reading this thread, but just came in to say I just finished the first book. It was nice having seen the show, making it easier to keep all the characters straight.
Compared to the show two things stuck out to me from the book: One, you have a much better sense of Catelyn's resentment of Jon Snow. Two, you get A LOT more out of the visions Bran has in his dreams.
