What's the point? How many times are they going to release the same thing? Gah! They just need to release the pre-Special Edition films and be done with it.B wrote:Announced today.dimejinky99 wrote:Also, just read that the original trilogy has been pulled from shelves everywhere by Disney.
Gotta mean they're releasing the bluray?
Nothing new in 'em.

I actually don't mind some of the touch-ups and modifications. It's the unnecessary crap that I hate...Greedo shooting first, Han and Jabba, the muppet song in ROTJ, Vader's "Nooooooooo" in ROTJ, etc...That stuff is just embarrassing. The minor tweaks and minor CGI added doesn't bother me.

I didn't quite understand that either. Why not use Jango?

I mean, if you're gonna use Jango, wouldn't you use him on Clones? I don't see why you have a problem with that verm.

Re: Star Wars Awesomeness
I was just reading the Empire Strikes Back graphic novel, and I realized something.
Luke trained with Yoda for about a day before facing Darth Vader. Even if you include Ben's training him in A New Hope, that's still just two days worth of training. Then a year later in ROTJ, he's a fully fledged Jedi. How'd he pull this off? It took Anakin 10 years of training and that was with a fully operating Jedi system in place.
Was Luke THAT good or had the training standards dropped since the rise of the Empire?

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Luke had a higher midichlorian count, probably.B wrote:I was just reading the Empire Strikes Back graphic novel, and I realized something.

Its not like he was awarded a certificate. Luke was a Jedi because he said he was a Jedi.

Re: Star Wars Awesomeness
Anakin was most likely powerful enough to be a Jedi much earlier (as witnessed many times in the Clone Wars where he saves Obi-Wan's ass time and time again), but his recklessness and attitude lead the Jedi Council to hold him back. I just assumed that the Skywalkers were stronger in the force, therefore Luke was able to "practice what he had learned, save him it can".B wrote:I was just reading the Empire Strikes Back graphic novel, and I realized something.

Re: Star Wars Awesomeness
I always assumed he was on Dagobah for much longer. The Falcon's hyperdrive was destroyed, so it probably took more than a day to get to Bespin from Hoth; a week? a month? Certainly, they had supplies on the ship (Han and Chewie were just getting ready to leave Hoth), so they'd be able to get there, just at sub-light speed.
The real problem, of course, is how they treated training and the Jedi "machine" in the prequels. You remember when Luke arrived on Dagobah and said to Yoda, "I'm looking for a great warrior"? He still didn't understand what being attuned to the force means, but it's obviously not about being the toughest motherfucker in the galaxy. The prequels do, however, go out of their way to show how the greatest Jedi are also the greatest warriors, and that they've got a brood of kids training to be the next generation of warriors. Huh?
