It's notable that this administration has actually been able to lead a pretty charmed life. They haven't had to deal with much of anything that could potentially be a huge crisis and wasn't self-inflicted. It's just so utterly stupid to say that when you know that's not going to be the case.

Kudlow is clearly saying this shit at Trump’s behest, who is freaking out that the market is down. Here’s where a complete lack of credibility becomes a problem.

hasn't been a problem yet and I honestly don't see it becoming one. the usual suspects on both sides will say the usual things and the usual idiots will eat it up/decry it as appropriate.

I don't see an easy way back from this.

Trump's presidency is based on making rednecks feel safe in his strong arms. He has to lie to them in these situations, and will continue to. The fake tough guys in the rust belt will eat it up.

It should be obvious to everyone by now if he hadn’t inherited millions trump would be another pushy mattress salesman, but yeah, when you are nothing but a cloud of smoke then nothing sticks.

It isn’t just Trump in this case, though. Rural clinics, as businesses, have become more or less financially insolvent over the last decade, and the ACA includes specific provisions to help prop them up. 80% of rural clinic closings in the last 5 years have been in states where Republicans blocked Medicare expansion.

They’ve created healthcare deserts. Vast spaces where people have little or no immediate healthcare access, or where the facilities that do exist would get overrun by a family of five, if they were sick enough.

And with an election coming up

And a virus that so far is killing older people with pre existing conditions.

Maybe trump will lose after all.

It's getting closer and closer to me. Only 400km from the latest confirmed infected person. See you in the afterlife.

What is happening in Italy right now is because of one person that didn't know they had it and traveled home. You are silly to think a big outbreak couldn't happen here in the states.

It makes all the sense in the world if the only thing you care about protecting is the market, and also you only ever think about life in terms of right here and right now.

I work for a telemedicine company, and, very selfishly, it was exciting yesterday to hear the CDC recommend telemedicine. Our stock options vest Monday and the value has jumped 25% in the past month. If we're going out, I'm going out in style.

We’re all wondering by the time a vaccine is found, how that’s going to work in America?

I mean you guys and healthcare...it’s not exactly cheap

Yeah but vaccines usually are. Most people can get free or low cost flu vaccines, not sure this would be any different

Vaccines usually take over a year to develop, don't they?

18 months to two years at the earliest in this case
