One of my favorite things in Californication was Duchovny always addressing Rick Springfield as Rick Springfield.wease wrote:They don’t seem to ever just call him Matt. It’s always Matt Cameron.
“Hey, Matt Cameron! How are you?”
“Matt Cameron, we’re going to meet later for sushi. Wanna come?”
“I’m glad you’re in our band, Matt Cameron.”
Our oldest’s group of friends in high school had a kid they all referred to with first and last name. Sam Vance. It was great.oasisfan35 wrote:One of my favorite things in Californication was Duchovny always addressing Rick Springfield as Rick Springfield.wease wrote:They don’t seem to ever just call him Matt. I got a buddy who is a fantastic and very entertaining storyteller. He always refers to people using first and last name. Kicks the story up a notch.wease wrote:Our oldest’s group of friends in high school had a kid they all referred to with first and last name. Sam Vance. When talking directly to them does he use both?Bammer wrote:I got a buddy who is a fantastic and very entertaining storyteller. He always refers to people using first and last name. No, and I hear you about Matt Cameron but I’m pretty sure that they use his full name when talking about him and not directly to him (even if he is righ there sitting on the same couch).wease wrote:When talking directly to them does he use both?Bammer wrote:I got a buddy who is a fantastic and very entertaining storyteller. He’s not equal. He’s leagues above them.Bammer wrote:No, and I hear you about Matt Cameron but I’m pretty sure that they use his full name when talking about him and not directly to him (even if he is righ there sitting on the same couch).wease wrote:When talking directly to them does he use both?Bammer wrote:I got a buddy who is a fantastic and very entertaining storyteller. But this is still a pretty funny observation.
They still see him as “external” like … there’s this great drummer out there and somehow we got him (outsider) to play with us (original crew).
They’ll never see him as an equal. It’s lonely at the top.
You'd think after 24 years under his PJ belt "Matt" would default to Cameron, not Chamberlain with a measly 3 week stint.GreenMosquito1996 wrote:I think they don't want people to be confused because youknow, Matt Chamberlain.
They're aesthetic outliers in the PJ catalogue. I like them, but I can understand somebody not being into MC's tunes.Vitalogist wrote:Is it an unpopular opinion to not be a big fan of Matt’s songwriting? Cuz I’m not a big fan sorry guys.
It's a bit of a mixed bag, but his songs tend to be my favourites on their respective albums.Vitalogist wrote:Is it an unpopular opinion to not be a big fan of Matt’s songwriting? Cuz I’m not a big fan sorry guys.
If you like the good ones and dislike the bad ones, then everything will be fine.Vitalogist wrote:Is it an unpopular opinion to not be a big fan of Matt’s songwriting? Cuz I’m not a big fan sorry guys.
