i dont think there are actually any strings there. A couple folks are just saying "Oh, this spot, this is where i imagine strings would be"

Does anyone think this might be PJ's 'Beth / Rest'?
Or it could something else.

The last minute I hear no strings, sax, and just the slightest bit of sex.

I don't know, to me it sounds like strings but I could be wrong. At the end I hear stone and mike and another string as a middle layer between the two...warehouse wrote:*saxStrat wrote:HardTI wrote:Can someone tell me around what time of the song they hear strings? I hear sex at the beginning, too. And in those little solos.HardTI wrote:The last minute I hear no strings, sax, and just the slightest bit of sex.

I've heard the song more than two times, I find the studio version really impossible to listen to. I've listened to the solo demo, I've seen it, I've listened to it on boots. I just don't think it goes anywhere, the music is boring and the lyrics aren't very good.HardTI wrote:mym23 wrote:Seriously though, you think "speed of sound" is an interesting and good song? You should probably give it more than 2 listens before you form any opinion that you are going to try and argue.
But hey, to each their own.

I really love the harmonizing guitars going on. Love when Stone and Mike do that.

I mostly agree. I like the lyrics a lot. I find the studio version interesting, but nothing more. It doesn't move me at all.

I guess for an acoustic country song like that to grab me, it needs to do so lyrically or through the music.harmless wrote:Yes I do think it's an interesting and good song. It's not thoroughly complex and it's quiet, slow and mellow. It doesn't go anywhere but does it need to? It's an acoustic country song and I guess I don't expect those to go anywhere groundbreaking. Again, just an opinion. Someone asked for a dull PJ song, and that's the one that came to my mind.

You guys know what would suck? If this song being soundchecked is really just like 3 minutes long and they are just practicing certain parts over and over.

See, I just find "It doesn't go anywhere" to be a really common lazy accusation, which isn't often substantiated. I don't think Strangest Tribe 'goes anywhere' more complex and surprising than Speed of Sound, it's just a better song to begin with.
