So tree, what’s the takeaway here? Ride operator is in less trouble for what they did (adjust / break protocol to accommodate, leading to death) than if they’d denied him a ride due to his size (discriminate)?

I don't think the operator would've been in any kind of trouble for denying him a ride due to his size because the safety protocols are in place for safety reasons, obviously. The operator was clearly either ignorant or evil. I'm not sure there's fodder for debate here, but this is also the News forum and it's relevant, I thought.

The ride operator did want the fat acceptance people to REEEEEEEEEE! at him so he bent the rules and the kid died because of it. This is the fault of our society, not one single carnie.
