Are you talking about Pom's character? She was clearly alive and ready to join the team at the end of the last movie.
I remember her being left in the train maybe? almost dying?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

tragabigzanda wrote:1. Why does the trailer say " next year"? It comes out in May.

2. Looks awesome, but when Ethan says "You're going to have to trust me one last time," I couldn't help but think of the Ben Stiller action trailer from Tropic Thunder
It’s not a new trailer. They didn’t bother to update the text.

I saw a tweet that theorized “the entity” is what was in “the rabbits foot” from MI:3 and I so hope that’s real

My brain is at war wanting them to tie all 8 movies together (with threads like that) while knowing that would likely result in an absolute mess of a movie.

They already did it a touch with the White Widow and Max, but it could be something as simple as Hunt seeing it on a table and making the unspoken connection or a throwaway line like "Twenty years ago after the IMF extracted the prototype code from Shanghai...". But it would need to be subtle to not be distracting fan service.

(or they could go they extreme opposite route to mindfuck the fan base and make it into a Roko's Basilisk game)

They need to make sure doves are flying in the background of every scene, a Felicity castmember appears once, Simon Pegg gets the sharts from a super-laxative in his coffee, Matthew Fox tells Tom Cruise that "we have to go BACK!", and the main villain turns out to be Lil' Billy Davian.

Pretty pumped for this. Just rewatched Dead Reckoning in preparation.

Planning on sneaking out of work early on Thursday, Mission Impossible style, and catching the afternoon show on IMAX

I didn’t love Dead Reckoning, largely because of who was killed off. I will eventually go to this, but I think the two Reckoning movies combined will be the biggest flop in Hollywood history. Half a billion loss seems possible, right?

It'll be fine. I'm sure Mr. Cruise has everything under control.

I don't think so, Dead Reckoning underperformed in a surprising way but was not a dramatic flop (certainly nothing like the last Indiana Jones movie). Final Reckoning is tracking pretty well.

DR also opened the week before Barbie and Oppenheimer
