Weird one. Still letting it sink in. Went from amazing to lame to amazing and back again at times.

Also I'm using really fucking tired and spacey. Haven't slept much in 5 days

Nobody hates Pearl jam quite as much as Pearl jam fans.

The peak of the weekend was Black - particularly the solo - followed by Given to Fly. Night 1 was a better show in every way. I loved the first night, and tonight was fun, but…..

1) Too many repeats. I expected and wanted Alive, Even Flow, and Elderly. Daughter was unnecessary, and really Do the Ev should have closed the main set and Porch should have had the night off.
2) The 5 seated songs tonight were bland choices. They opened with Pendulum last time they were in town. Open with Hard to Imagine, follow it with Alright, lean into Nothingman, send the Pit into a frenzy with Fatal (dedicated to someone’s moribund wife), and transition from the stools with Present Tense.
3) 3 covers in the encore.
4) The deep cuts were songs that were regularly played (overplayed) during their album cycle: Got Some, Severed Hand, and Unthought Known aren’t exactly gems. Or rhinestones. No one was excited for those.
5) All the Vitalogy chatter really made me disappointed when I heard the first few notes of Once following Last Exit. I was lucky enough to attend the No Code and Yield shows. There was a moment where I thought it was going to happen.
6) I love In Hiding so much, but Ed can’t do that one anymore. It’s sad, but it’s how aging goes.

In addition to these shows, I saw St. Louis and NYC last year. I cannot fucking believe I’ve seen 7o’clock twice and Quick Escape zero times. I thought that song was going to be a staple. Meanwhile, Whoever Said is awesome every single time.

i can understand the moody-mousey tunes setlist for night 1 bc they wanted to save the firepower for night 2 but totally understand when looking at this setlist how it could be a let-down for a Saturday night labor day weekend night 2 show…

and they need to stop opening with Pendulum they have beaten that to death

in fact the triple slow burn opener could prob use a break

I'm not sure which night was better, but I definitely enjoyed night 2 more. Every album represented. Only 5 repeats. Severed Hand through Porch was fantastic.

Someone in Ed's inner circle needs to talk to him about Michael Bolton. How he looked so much better after he got a buzz cut and stopped clinging on to scraps of hair. Ed's hair is in really bad shape.

Never trusting that Greek dude’s opinions again. Last Kiss and Got Some back to back is just mean. Lots of great songs in there though; in hiding, NAIS, Last Exit. And I like UK.

Okay great show but loved night 1 more.

The main set last night was excellent. Take the long way should always be played as well as whoever said. Last exit, once, I am mine, severed hand ....awesome

I just hated the encore and I hate unthought known. The crowd fucking loves that one for some reason but the Jamily is weird.

I always thought I wanted to hear pj play purple rain but meh. Being that Ed only sings the first verse and Matt cam is just too stiff.

Didn't love the repeats either.

Speaking of Jamily - merch is out of control. Also, put your fucking signs down. I'm so fucking sick of people using their kids or dead family members to get Ed's attention. "Faves first show!!!" You don't care it's his first show. You just want Ed to notice you. It's sickening

Also, there was a dude in front of me (turned out to be totally okay) dressed in what I can best describe as Richard Simmons at burning man. Dude was cut as hell and definitely on some sort of drugs. Tie dyed scarf. Neon workout shorts and shoes. White sunglasses. Goose hat. Cut off shirt. Dancing like a wild man. Got in someone's face about filming but then proceeded to film all night himself. Super weird. His wife kind of apologized but no need to. They were fine. Just a bit of a spectacle.

So, great show but I was a bit bored during encore and perhaps also because I've had little rest the last four days with all of this music.

I definitely inspired mike to give NAIS a go.

I do love Pearl Jam and it always feels special no matter the set choices.

Pleasure to meet coach! And got to hang with even slow again!

Sounds like I’m making the right choice only going to one Chicago show. Consensus seems to be going to both shows of a stop is overkill.

Strat’s review:
- What is a goose hat?
- Very surprised to hear near the end of your story that the guy is married, and to a woman at that.
