Re: Let the Records Play
Course I do. By this one has Pj doing their usually verse pre chorus chorus thing but in a rather different way. It's almost like a bit of a mush mash of ideas but its organic too, feels ok it doesn't feel like the different parts don't belong together, if that makes sense?
Though the bridge is really the star of the show. As it often is with this band

it doesnt sound like that. there are just the same number of syllables in each phraseWtOB? wrote:the chorus sounds like jeepers creepers. just imagine "jeepers creepers.. where'd ya get those peepers? jeepers creepers... he lets the records play". it you like that then you're set.

riot acts production was often too subdued for larger sounding songs.WtOB? wrote:the thing i'm most disappointed in is the production. it's almost just as glossy as backspacer but with fatter guitar tones. a song like infallible may be ruined by this, as it sounds like it'd be right at home with some riot act production on AT.

That's ok then. Cos it's a great bridge.
Not hearing the get right comparison other than some timing and reverse melody here and there.
I was the one who made that comparison, and I can't really articulate why they remind me of each other, because they don't, but they do.

I think that's more an issue of band performance and arrangement than production/recording.stip wrote:riot acts production was often too subdued for larger sounding songs.WtOB? wrote:the thing i'm most disappointed in is the production. it's almost just as glossy as backspacer but with fatter guitar tones. a song like infallible may be ruined by this, as it sounds like it'd be right at home with some riot act production on AT.

Certainly on par. This is so unimaginative and pedestrian. It sounds like a warm up for a rehearsal or a throwaway on a kids movie soundtrack.harmless wrote:Worse than Supersonic?LetMeSleep wrote:I'd like to clarify that I think the whole song is awful. Anyway my distaste for this song hasn't changed since the first time I heard it.

I can hear what you're hearing but its just the melody travelling backwards rather than up or where you expect it to go. And it's in a similar timing toostip wrote:the handclaps Dime, the handclaps!dimejinky99 wrote:Release_Me wrote:The bridge is this part:

I can't see BiH liking this at all. Appreciating that they may be having fun, yes possibly. But not like it.stip wrote:you are a hard man to predict but I think you'll like this one.Birds in Hell wrote:Well, this is something to look forward to.LetMeSleep wrote:I'd like to clarify that I think the whole song is awful. Re: Let the Records Play
however in this exceptional case you couldn't really swap the chorus for the bridge. Which is a shame. Maybe.dimejinky99 wrote:Course I do. Ed's youtube snippet of it is probably creating a false picture for those who haven't yet heard the leak. Mislead hope, I would say.LetMeSleep wrote:It'll be interesting to see how this develops

He likes GSMF and big wave, so he does like some of the scrappy upbeat guitar heavy numbers.LetMeSleep wrote:I can't see BiH liking this at all. Yeah, there is no better way to mislead people about a song than to play it for themLounge Lizard wrote:Ed's youtube snippet of it is probably creating a false picture for those who haven't yet heard the leak. Mislead hope, I would say.LetMeSleep wrote:It'll be interesting to see how this develops

Um, I like Big Wave a lot and GSMF is pretty good too. Time will tell and you know him better than I do.stip wrote:He likes GSMF and big wave, so he does like some of the scrappy upbeat guitar heavy numbers.LetMeSleep wrote:I can't see BiH liking this at all. I do quite like the chorus of Lightning Bolt - funnily enough, it vaguely reminds me of AC/DC. Those big chunky chords and the howled vocals, I guess, though I've only heard the Wrigley version once or twice (and that snippet from the promo video) so that might change on further reflection.

It's just very boring to read that obviously everyone is going to hate this song because I do.
