Bruins didn't need Iggy anyways. I think they can use a legit first line winger and more importantly a true number 2 d-man. Chara and Seidenburg get way too much ice time. And I don't see the Bruins having a true number one line. They have two really good number two lines. As much as I like Lucic, he's not a first line player.MattA75 wrote:bitter much?numbers wrote:I wish Iginla was the one that took the puck to the face.
Iginla was the only legit first line winger there was on the market (unless you want to stretch to put Jagr there too)...Iginla might be old but he's still very productive, especially if you put other talent around him (unlike in Calgary)surfndestroy wrote:Bruins didn't need Iggy anyways. I don't think of Iginla as a top line player any more. He's lost more than a step and a lot of the edge he used to have in his game.MattA75 wrote:Iginla was the only legit first line winger there was on the market (unless you want to stretch to put Jagr there too)...Iginla might be old but he's still very productive, especially if you put other talent around him (unlike in Calgary)surfndestroy wrote:Bruins didn't need Iggy anyways. and that Lucic contract that starts next year is terrible...it's hard to believe the Bruins basically did the Martin Lapointe deal all over again
Regardless of whether you think he's a first line player or not, he was still the best thing available (barring some crazy, unexpected trade. He's the type of player who can contribute in a lot of different ways, whether your team is lacking scoring, physicality, power play production, leadership, etc. Plus, the cost of acquiring him seems pretty low and he's on an expiring contract, so it's not like he's going to cause any cap concerns down the road.surfndestroy wrote:I don't think of Iginla as a top line player any more. I'm happier with the B's getting Jagr than I would with them getting Iginla. Jagr basically cost them a 2nd rounder. MacDermid and Payne were thrown in but realistically neither of those two will ever be NHLers.philpritchard wrote:Looks like that's settledelliseamos wrote:if the Bs can spend less and get jagr, that'd be cool with me.. I haven't heard a confirmed return to Dallas yet, so I'm not sure they spent much less.
If anything Lucic should be dropped so Jagr can play with Krejci...there's zero reason to split up Bergeron's line...Lucic could use the wake up call anyway, he's been freaking awfulsurfndestroy wrote:I'm happier with the B's getting Jagr than I would with them getting Iginla. Jagr has better hands and wheels than Iginla at this point, both of which I think the Bruins need more than the leadership Iginla would have brought. Looking forward to seeing how the lines draw up now. Does Horton get dropped to the third line? Will Lucic line up with Marchand and Seguin?
I can't see Lucic and Peverley being a good pair. Lucic needs a better center than that. I can see Horton being a better fit on the third and not moping about it.MattA75 wrote:If anything Lucic should be dropped so Jagr can play with Krejci...there's zero reason to split up Bergeron's line...Lucic could use the wake up call anyway, he's been freaking awfulsurfndestroy wrote:I'm happier with the B's getting Jagr than I would with them getting Iginla. who cares if Lucic mopes? if he mopes then Clood or Chara needs to take him aside and tell him to suck it up for the good of the team...surfndestroy wrote:I can't see Lucic and Peverley being a good pair. I can't see Canucks making it past the second round. The Sedins are both having an off year and even if Kesler plays amazing, they just lack scoring. I don't think Kesler would be happy playing on the wing. I'm pretty sure he vetoed the idea of moving to wing to let Hodgson be 2nd line center. But I am happy with the Roy pickup. Exactly what was needed but should have been done once they moved Malhotra to the long term IRL.MattA75 wrote:On a different note, I like the Canucks acquisition of Derek Roy today...especially if it convinces them to play Kesler at wing upon his return...Kesler-Roy-Burrows could be a hell of a line, and with the way Raymond has played this year, they might actually have some scoring depth down to the third line this year
I don't know if they can either, but they didn't do what they should have done after the finals loss (one of two options really: FIRE the idiot coach, or BLOW IT UP and trade the twins), and they sure as hell aren't going to blow it up now (or fire the idiot coach), so what the hell, may as well root for my team and maybe they'll surprise me and grow a set of balls at some pointsurfndestroy wrote:I can't see Canucks making it past the second round. i thought he already got dealt to StL?numbers wrote:The Bruins should go back to the Flames and try to get Bouwmeester. Maybe they get a little bit of a discount after last week's debacle.
