Which are those b sides Stip? specially from Bubblegum...
I loved the outtakes.
Mirrored and Mud Pink Skag, both of which were better than a few of the tracks on Bubblegum
They were both covers so I don't know if they count but Slide machine and Death Don't Have No Mercy from Scraps are both excellent as well. Especially Slide Machine

stip wrote:Sympathy is nothing special. Same with Valencia Courthouse. They're filler tracks. They'd be pleasant links between stronger songs. The harmony parts in VC are nice, though. Still, I don't see what the top 10 appeal of it is.
Gutted.
Kidding. Hey I always enjoy reading the different opinions on here. Not sure why Valencia is so appealing to me--the execution/harmonies I'm sure are a large part of my draw to it. A simple song about love lost yet knowing that life goes on, it's just beautifully done IMO. He's not looking for pity, just sharing sorrows. The song does have a bit of an incomplete feel to it, but I think that actually made me like it even more (for some odd reason).

I'm going to plug the book "Everybody Loves Our Town" again. Lots of good Mark Lanegan in there.

Saw Mark tonight for the first time as the opener for Nick Cave. Absolutely incredible. He joined Nick and the Bad Seeds for The Weeping Song which was something else. Now that I'm living on the West coast, I'm sure I'll be catching him again soon.

Awesome man, great pic. I've seen him about 10 times now and each time is better than the last. He's a nice guy too when you meet him. Did he play any new songs?

I wish he would branch out a bit more lyrically. Every other song doesn't have to have a dark shadow following you in the moon light.

I also noticed that the lyrical content seems very much borrowed from Gutter Twins or Blues Funeral. That said, I still fucking love Judgement Time.

Nothing new, but the Imitations stuff sounded great. You Only Live Twice was perfect. He really nails the vocals on that one.
EDIT: Also agree about him being a nice guy. Just socially awkward as hell, so I get why some people get the wrong vibe from him.
