Murray’s Bagels was the place that was recommended as the “bagel you’ve gotta try” and after that commute into Manhattan and that long line, I was just like “meh.”

There was a place on Flushing Ave by where we stayed called Westway Bagel Co. that I liked a lot, though. Every morning I’d walk downstairs and roam around the block before my wife woke up, grab bagels from there (no line), and bring a couple back. They played The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on TV. I’d always ask for a side of butter because the apartment fridge didn’t have any and I always needed some for morning eggs. By the last day I was there, the Puerto Rican guy already had my butter ready for me. That was a really good bagel. Maybe NYC bagels are as much about the neighborhood than that Catskill water theory?

bagels are overrated camp over here..anything from zabars tastes like anything from a grocery store here

Are steak nights at bars as big of a thing where you guys live as they are here? I realized the other day that one could hit up ten different steak nights M-F in a span of two weeks and not visit the same place twice. I've had people from out of town here tell me that's not normal, but to me it's a fact of life. Every single bar with a patio I can think of has one night a week designated as steak night. Some much better than others.

not a big soup guy but that sounds good

i don't feel like cooking anything tonight and want to order pizza but its going to be pouring rain all night and feel bad for the delivery guys..if they're really busy i might get a cold pizza and not want to have to send it back or call them

Anyone have any tips on making great caprese salad? I know it’s simple, of course, but what makes it the best it can be? Marinate? Don’t marinate? Thoughts?
