Re: Ask RM a Question
Called an electrician yesterday to replace a bad breaker that controlled our AC units. A local place, the lady on the phone only took my first name and number, and of course address. A crew of two guys stopped by, replaced the breaker, checked one other thing, and left. I asked if I should pay them, they said no the secretary will call you with payment. It has been 24 hours and I've heard nothing. They only have my first name, but I suppose they could still mail me a bill? How long do I wait before I call them? If I had supplied the replacement breaker fuse, I could understand maybe them just saying "no problem", but they supplied it, and I know this one in particular costs at least $100. Is it ok to give them until Friday and then call them? or is the right thing to do call them now?

Re: Ask RM a Question
It’s perfectly reasonable to give them a couple of days, especially since they said the secretary would call you. Waiting until Friday is fine — that gives them time to process the job and send the invoice. But if you haven’t heard anything by then, giving them a quick call would be the right move. You’re showing integrity by being proactive, and it’s possible the paperwork just got delayed or misfiled. An annoying situation either way though.E.H. Re: Ask RM a Question
Probably should go on the irrational hatred thread, but it totally pisses me off when, in this day and technological age, any tradie does work at my house and DOESN'T have a pay there and now facility available for me to use before they leave.
Seriously, this is so basic these days, and people can literally use their phone to accept payments.
I get irritated having to pay later and fully pissed if I have to actually chase them to pay them.
Its 2025 people. Act like it.
