dimejinky99 wrote:Empires release seemed to be the birthplace of hardcore Star Wars fans and casual fans. The regular cinema going public didn't seem to like it. It was dark. Nobody liked or believed the big reveal. Is Han dead? It didn't have the big sweeping adventure of a new hope and it basically left you hanging. All that. So overall at the casual cinema goer was unhappy whereas it solidified the fan base into hardcore fans.
Weirdly ROTJ garnered a lot of critical praise and was loved by pretty much everyone except a lot of hardcore fans. No accounting for taste.
Empire only came to be loved once it was given context by Jedi. I think a lot of people who had problems with TFA will have the same epiphany once they've seen TLJ
Totally different issues with TFA though. It has nothing to do with context and everything to do with re-treading of plot points

Well there's gonna be similar beats to empire in TLJ. Are we in for another two years of people complaining about it? I hope not.

It is thought that Luke hides Reys heritage from her and Kylo accusers him of it or says to Rey 'he hasn't told you has he?/you haven't told her have you?'
Is this too much like Obi Wan&Yoda hiding the truth about Vader from luke?
I can't see them doing this. Luke wouldn't do to her what was done to him I don't think.
Unless he's her father.

ForceCenter did a discussion about whether or not we'll see Luke light up ol' green. One of the hosts talked about how Yoda had given up his light saber with age. And that there is some writing (not sure if it's canon or not) that Palpatine only used his saber after a certain age as a way to make fun of the Jedi.
Would it be more interesting, then, to see what new Force powers Luke has? I'm actually thinking it would be really cool to see him never touch a light saber in this and still be a badass.

Luke will have a white lightsaber.
Whether we see it in 8 or 9 is the question.

Kinda like how Yoda should have been in the prequels.

The making Star Wars people have an arm load of spoilers about luke this week.
I wanna back off and go dark. They were like 90% accurate on TFA. it's too much

Yeah, I'm just not interested in actual spoilers at this point. I like speculation. But I don't want to even do that if I suspect that others I'm "speculating" with have looked at spoilers.

It's like drinking. Screaming at myself walking down to the shop to buy beer. I don't want it. Don't do it. Then ten minutes later drunk posting on RM beer in hand.
Spoilers for Star Wars the same. Don't want to. Can't not.

Burden in my hand (right now in fact)
I wish I could unplug. I have mates haven't even seen the trailer never mind spoilers. And some of them are total twitter addicts.
How do they do it?
