At least 233 people died by gun violence throughout the weekend, per GVA. According to the org, there were 23 mass shootings in the country during the first 5 days of July 2021. In June, President Joe Biden directed his Justice Department to explore numerous steps to try and curb gun violence.

Is the Biden admin just going to go after FFLs if more than x number of guns sold there are found at crime scenes? Any chance they go after the actual straw buyers?

Has Chicago made a serious attempt at a ceasefire type intervention? The kids murdering each other are largely known in their community, at least in certain sectors.

Going after straw buyers has never been much of a federal priority, and I'm not sure why. If you are an actual trafficer to the extent of making significant income, it should be pretty apparent if you are making dozens of purchases and registering the guns as stolen. This seems to be the implied Indiana-Chicago link.

Maybe individual straw buyers are difficult to prove, but its the ATF ffs. What girlfriend of a typical Chicago shooter has the wherewithal to go to trial on Federal charges? 90+ percent cop a plea deal. Word gets around and maybe some small fraction of Chicago girlfriends stop buying shit for their felonious partner.

From what I've read, this seemed to be the bigger request from people in the communities, "Give us resources to attract these young people away from crime" (since majority of people involved at between 18-30). Rather than throwing more cops at the situation, Biden's admin. seem to be going with option 3 which appears to be a regional approach at stopping the flow of guns, rather than telling a community what to do (neither thru policing nor youth engagement).

To be generous: maybe they did it for some space saving reason so the camera could get a better angle or something.
